Bowling ten overs with an economy rate of 3.50, it was a sure sign of a good comeback from injury that kept Bumrah out for almost a year. Spinner R. Ashwin picked one wicket, bowling ten overs with an economy rate of just 3.40. Ravindra Jadeja was the star of the wicket taking side – picking 3 for 28 runs with 2 maiden overs in his spell.

The Indian batting lineup in the second innings was up for a toss, when openers Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma & Shreyas Iyer could not hold the crease, being dismissed for ducks. Virat Kohli held the crease, putting up a brilliant 85 of 116 balls to be eventually dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. Middle order batsman KL Rahul, scoring 97* of 117 balls, held the crease along with Virat Kohli as the duo powered India home, with Hardik Pandya stepping in after Virat Kohli’s dismissal – finishing off with a 11* of 8 balls. India managed to finish their innings in 41.2 overs, with almost 52 balls and 6 wickets to spare.

India now face Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 11th October. Anticipated fans are keen to watch the Naveen-ul-Haq/Virat Kohli duo faceoff after their IPL spat, knowing this is a flash point between the two players. Australia will now face South Africa in on 12th October in Lucknow as they look to gather momentum after a thrilling loss to India to add points to their purse to qualify for the playoff spots.
